LOTRO Reporter Episode 54a – Rowan PAX Interview
Sep 17th
This special interview is an interview that Bill and I did with Aaron “Rowan” Campbell on the show floor at PAX.
We did have some audio issues, and the quality is horrible, but there is some good information, so I thought that I would put it out there.

LOTRO PAX Overview
Sep 6th
With PAX behind me, I thought I’d take the time to share some of my thoughts about my time at the Turbine booth, and some of the things that came up in our interview with Rowan. We’ll have more information up in the next few days, but I wanted to give a quick overview today.
First, and I think most importantly, the Turbine booth was full every time we walked by. There were lots of people trying out DDO and LOTRO every time we walked by, and they seemed to be enjoying it. We met many people out on the convention floor, at restaurants, and waiting in line that were either currently playing LOTRO or were going to once the game went F2P.
PAX Day 1 Wrap Up
Sep 3rd
I just thought that I’d throw this together for those of you interested. We had a great time at our first day at PAX. We’ve got some time booked with Turbine on Sunday, so expect all of our LOTRO specific news to come out that day.
PAX Announcement Prediction – To Isengard?
Sep 1st
I’m going to go out on a limb and make a prediction for Lord of the Rings Online. I’m going to predict that Turbine will announce the next major content update at PAX, and that it will come before the end of the year.
I have a few reasons for believe this, but I’m feel very strongly about this. We will get an announcement from Turbine letting us know that we will be continuing our journey towards Mordor.
Why do I think that this will occur at PAX?
- Turbine used PAX last year to announce Siege of Mirkwood, so they feel that the conference is big enough to warrent major announcements.
- Turbine has something to prove to its current subscribing players. With the lack of content updates, and the suggestion that Turbine will be ramping up content release for LOTRO as they did with DDO when it went Free to Play. Announcing the next content update as they launch Free to Play would go a long way towards showing their intentions to players.
- This would show people looking at whether or not they want to try LOTRO that Turbine is serious about having frequent content updates, and what better time to announce it that when the focus is already of them with the launch of Free to Play.
If Turbine came right out of the gates at the Free to Play launch with a plan for content that involved the next Chapter of the Epic Quest and a new zone, the public support for the company would swell. I can’t imagine a better time for them to make this announcement.
Perhaps we’re off to Isengard?
See you in-game!
LOTRO Reporter Meetup
Aug 29th
We’ve come to a decision, and the LOTRO Reporter PAX 2010 Meetup will take place at the Elephant and Castle Pub on September 2nd at 7:00PM. We’ve made a reservation for the “Billiard Room” so there should be plenty of room.
If you are planning on attending, please add a comment to this post, so that we can have a general idea of how many people will be there. They seem to be really flexible at the Pub, so if you decide at the last minute that you want to go, that would be fine as well.

LOTRO Reporter Goes to PAX!
Aug 12th
LOTRO Reporter has the great pleasure of announcing that we will be going to PAX! This is the first time for both Bill and I, and we are very excited to take part in this great event. To me, it’s like a great big geek pilgrimage, where I can be surrounded by people as equality, and perhaps even more, geeky than me!
I am very much looking forward to this event, as we will be having the chance to talk to the developers from Turbine! So here’s your chance to take part: Send us your questions that you’d like us to ask of Turbine, and we will put them to the most appropriate person! We’re not sure yet who we’re going to have a chance to talk to, but we know that Sapience and Patience will be there, as well as others.
To send us your questions, you can comment here, send us a twitter message (@lotroreporter) or send us an email (lotro.reporter@gmail.com). Let us know what you want us to ask Turbine!
The other part of the equation is: How many of you are going to PAX? Perhaps a LOTRO Reporter meet up is in order?
(Note: I edited the Poll to make the question clearer)
