LOTRO Reporter: The Future
Nov 16th
It has now come to the time in LOTRO Reporter’s, and my, future, to decide how best to proceed with site.
You see, something kind of awesome has happened. I’ve had the opportunity recently to write an article for PC Gamer. It was a great experience that was tons of work, but a great time working with Josh Augustine, the MMO Editor. After some discussion with Josh, I now have the opportunity to do some more freelance writing for the magazine and website versions of PC Gamer. This means that I could possibly be writing for them a lot more, and this will take a lot of time to make sure that I put out articles that are well researched and well written.
What does all of that mean for LOTRO Reporter?
After some discussion will Bill and the rest of the writers on the site, we’ve decided to turn LOTRO Reporter into a podcast focused site. We will still have some content created for LOTRO Reporter, but the majority of our time and resources will be spent on the LOTRO Reporter Podcast. Bill and I both love The Lord of the Rings Online way too much to stop doing the podcast. We really enjoy what we do, and we really enjoy the game, but we don’t want to have the site claim to be something it’s not.
We’ll still be posting the show notes on this site, and we’ll also be having some video content that will continue to be created by Carlosjuero.
Thanks again for reading the blog, and we hope that you enjoy the podcast!

Emails:
Hi this is dorfism i play a dwarf gaurdian on the branywine server and I wanted to ask a question regarding the payment for vip. When I pay for vip with a credit card it succsessfully makes me a vip but once i log out of lotro it makes me a premium player and my account at turbine says I failed to make payments but I just did, so every time i want to play lotro as vip i have to go through this whole process of entering credit card numbers and such only to log out and find im a premium player again. i have looked everywhere for a solution and have not found anything regarding this issue. I just wanted to hear your thoughts on the problem.
p.s love the show =)

To Guardians
Nov 12th
Recently I have received emails from Stratus of Crickhollow and Senseye of Evernight requesting some more information for Guardians I have chosen to answer them here. First there is a guide on the lorebook that is very involved you can find it here. Second as to virtues there are two very good resources the virtue finder at Mmorsel.com and the virtues tab at burgzerg.com. I have only used the one at burgzerg myself but try them out and see what you think.

LOTRO Reporter Episode 62 – The Late One
Nov 8th

This week, we discuss the launch of EU Free-to-Play, the Lore-Master Dev Diary , the upcoming changes to the Rune Keeper class, the Turbine Pumpkin Carving Contest, and a great machinima video call “The Siege of Barad Guldur”. We also have a segment from the great guys over at Through the Palantir, and another colorful visit to our two favorite hobits.
We also have a few listener emails:
From Amandariel of Arkenstone:
Hey guys,
As you may know, a great LotRO podcast (Mordor or Bust) crew has decided to call it quits.
They didn’t give a reason and I can’t help but wonder if it was because they didn’t always feel appreciated by the community.
Just to make sure that doesn’t happen to you guys, I wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your hard work. I listen to your podcast every week and absolutely love it.
Please don’t stop.
From Eric:
Do you guy know if Orion and now looks like Patience are still with lotro. I can’t find any post from Orion for a long time and now Patience has went quite for the past month.
Rick Heaton (Sapience) Answer: Both are still with Turbine. Orion is hard at work on LOTRO. In fact the new Tasks system is his creation and you’ll see a dev diary all about it in a week or so.
Patience is here! She’s the Senior Community Manager for Turbine. That means she’s responsible for all of our franchises not just LOTRO. Tolero (DDO), Frelorn(Ac1) and myself(LOTRO) handle the day to days of the communities and we report up to Patience. You probably saw a lot more of her a month ago as we had everyone pitching in to help with the launch of Free to Play. You’ll still see her from time to time in whichever franchise needs the extra hand.
From Arnold
Hey guys, love the show, and I especially love the accents
I have a quick question about the physical copy of the Mines of Moria expansion: The girlfriend and I love Lord of the Rings Online and was thinking of purchasing the hard copy for $10 through an online retailer, and with our budget being slim to none, we can’t purchase copies for the both of us. So my question to you guys is DRM related: how many game installs would be allowed for the Moria expansion? Thanks, guys!

From the Forums…
Nov 8th
From the Forums is a new column where I’ll be looking at what been posted on the forums in the past week. If you find something interesting, please feel free to send an email to lotro.reporter@gmail.com
We start with a new Tell the Community Team, this time about VIP’s and Mini-Games. Pub style mini-games? Could be fun….
A thread aboutThings Not To Say in Public Chat? How novel! The trolls haven’t gotten this much ammunition in years!
Drunk Features taken a notch too far? Has the original poster ever been drunk? Seems about right to me.
Dude where’s my rested xp? It’s like, totally not there. Dude….DUDE…. DUUUUUDE! Probably played your toons too much bro.
Is Amazon seeing a rise in Mines of Moria orders and therefore raising the prise? This thread seems to say YES!
Do you have some threads that you think we should highlight? Send us an email at lotro.reporter@gmail.com.
My Ideal Minstrel
Nov 8th
We’ll be taking a short hiatus from the class cooperation series to take a look at what changes I’d love to see for the primary healing class. I know it’s a little late for the Tell the Community thread and that no significant changes were made after all the input that was provided. This isn’t meant to be critical of Turbine, just an opinion article based on some of the best ideas I have seen over the past few months. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m perfectly fine with the status quo, but it’s nice to dream of what some small changes could do for the class.
Developers got on the good side of a few minstrels with the new Annuminas Medium Armor set, though its still pretty much a toss up about which way the division will lay once radiance is re-worked/removed. In the mean time, a new shiny set of armor with +150 radiance is great to have. Sure, the Will and Fate bonuses are deficient to say the least…
