Keeping your Warden Well-Equipped
Jul 9th
Before I hop into the meat of the post, I wanted to mention the Warden’s roundtable I was part of over on the Casual Stroll to Mordor podcast. I you haven’t listened to that yet, there’s a ton of Warden stuff in there, including discussion on today’s topic: gear for your Warden! In my previous posts, I’ve mainly been covering the leveling and skill progression, but not so much on your equipment choices. I wanted to take a little time to cover that issue, not only as you level but at the end-game as well. Certainly some of this information will not necessarily be Warden-specific, but I will keep it focused as much as I can. I did a similar post on my blog, but things have changed a bit since then, so I wanted to do another version of it.
I’m not really going to provide any leveling specifics as there are so many options available depending on where you go to level. For me as I leveled I was pretty much always using a mix of crafted items and quest drops. For the first 20 levels or so, I wouldn’t even stress about your equipment as you out-level it so darn fast. When you get into your 20s and especially into your 30s your equipment will really start to make a difference as with better gear you’ll be able to handle tougher content and potentially skip over certain zones or cruise through “quest gaps” that many have commented on.
Captain leveling guide 16-30
Jul 9th
Welcome back! As you may have noticed, this series is not super in-depth. That is on purpose. My goal is to give a quick overview of the skills and areas for the level ranges. After that is done, I will be going into a much more turn-by-turn type of guide. I will go into class quest guides, deeding, virtues, traits, and all other manner of things. First things first, I just want to get you familiar with the bulk of the game and your class, and then we will delve into the nitty gritty, so to speak. Until then, here is the next installment of Bor’s Guide to Captains.
The Writ of Rune-keeping: levels 11-30
Jul 8th
Letters make words, words make sentences, sentences make paragraphs, and paragraphs make for some spectacular results when you’re a Rune-keeper! Now that we’re familiar with the basics of keeping the runes—attunement and your early skills—we can confidently embark on the intermediate portion of the leveling journey: levels 11 through 30. We’ll talk about important Rune-keeper stats, the skills learned from levels 11 to 30, traits, and the tools of a Rune-keeper’s trade. That’s a lot to cover, so let’s get to it!
Skirmish Experiment – The Grind Begins….
Jul 8th
The Skirmish Experiment continues! I’ve managed to get Almarune up to level 41, and I am still very much enjoying the experiment. I have begun to feel the grind a little, however. Now that levels are not coming quite as easily, the rewards of doing the skirmishes is delayed quite significantly.
I have, once again, been playing with my soldier class and traits, trying to figure out what is best to get through the content fastest. So far I’ve tried: More >

Lore-Master, Master of Lore?
Jul 6th
I have been thinking a lot lately about the way our characters play us in games like this. “Wait, I think you meant to say that the other way around,” you may say. But no. I mean, how does it change our experience of the world to play a female Hobbit Guardian versus a male Elven Lore-Master? It may be the same person sitting in the chair on Earth, but it’s a completely different character in Middle-Earth.
So, what does it mean to be a Lore-master? More >
Rolling A Minstrel
Jul 6th

When it comes to choosing a race for a minstrel you have all the choices among the 4 races in Middle-Earth. There are some advatanges in choosing certain ones, however.
When it comes to choosing a Hobbit, the following are decided advantages:
- Hobbit Courage – A passive skill given at creation which increases your Fear Resist rating (1%)
- Hobbit-silence – A traited ability that will give your Minstrel an extra ’possum skill’: ie. the ability to break threat for a period of 30 seconds with a 1hr cool down. Attainable after level 35.
For a Dwarf seeking to learn the arts of the Minstrel:
- Fateful Dwarf – A trait that mitigates the initial failing for a Dwarf, which results in an overall +12 to Fate. Attainable after level 13.
