Guardian leveling guide 16-30
Jul 5th
Welcome back! As you may have noticed, this series is not super in-depth. That is on purpose. My goal is to give a quick overview of the skills and areas for the level ranges. After that is done, I will be going into a much more turn-by-turn type of guide. I will go into class quest guides, deeding, virtues, traits, and all other manner of things. First things first, I just want to get you familiar with the bulk of the game and your class, and then we will delve into the nitty gritty, so to speak. Until then, here is the next installment of Bor’s Guide to Guardians. More >
LOTRO Reporter Episode 44 – Imaginary Point of Screwage
Jul 3rd
This week, we discuss the Summer Festival, servers being closed to character transfers, WoW going Free-to-Play, more discussion on the Instance Join/Scaling technology coming with Volume 3, Book 2, and the growth of LOTRO Reporter. We also visit our two favorite hobbits as they take part in the summer festival, as well as discuss some listener mail which gets Chris frothing at the mouth.

Instance Scaling in Volume 3, Book 2
Jul 3rd
I think that everyone out in the LOTRO community is a little frustrated at how the information came out about the instance scaling technology that would be coming with the launch of Volume 3 Book 2 and Free-to-Play. I know that I was confused, with different information coming from different sources. I was quite excited about the idea of being able to go in with our group of 5 (see the Group Leveling column for more on my static group) and see a lot of the content that we normally would not be able to see.
Cor Pethroni and Lacho Calad – LOTRO Reporter Network Kinships
Jul 2nd
When we first launched LOTRO Reporter over a year ago, it didn’t take very long for listeners of the podcast and readers of the blog to ask which server we played on, and which Kinship we where in, because they wanted to play Lord of the Rings Online with us. Out of these questions rose Cor Pethroni (Elvish for Ring Narrators), a kinship on Brandywine.
For the past year, we’ve had some great experiences, running instances with listeners, and, of course, Skirmish Night!
The network grew and a diverse group started to listen to the podcasts and read the blogs on LotRO Reporter. As a result, it was time for more growth in game to reflect the growth of the network.
We are now proud to announce the formation of Lacho Calad (Sindarin for Burning Light) on Landroval, which will be a kinship geared towards players looking for a Role Playing Experience.
Cor Pethroni will continue to be the kinship for players looking for a PvE experience.
You can find the new joint Kinship site at www.lotroreporter.guildlaunch.com

Captain leveling guide 1-15

Captains are masterful leaders whose commanding presence strengthens allies. Their battle cries strike fear into the hearts of enemies and rally companions to their war banners.

The armoured Captain possesses some of the most potent enhancements to the heroes of Middle-earth, this makes the Captain a key member of any fellowship. The Captain’s ability to summon a Herald pet at later levels, plus the ability to bring fallen heroes back into the fight, make it a desired group class.
Rune-keeper ABC’s
Jul 2nd
![]()
The Doors of Durin. The voice of Saruman. The creation of Middle Earth by the music and song of the Ainur. Words hold a power in Middle Earth when wielded by those who know them. This is the calling and power of the Rune-keeper, described as “gifted linguists and masters of true names.” When roused to anger, Rune-keepers are some of the most powerful foes of the Enemy; when bent towards healing, Rune-keepers can keep their fellows’ spirits high in the face of the gravest dangers. This guide is intended to help Rune-keepers as they learn their craft, from their first Preludes of Hope to the final Epic Conclusions of their leveling journey. Today’s post starts us off with the basics: what Rune-keepers do, how they play, and the first 1–10 levels of playing a Rune-keeper. More >
Did you know…
Jul 1st
Here’s a teeny tiny Did You Know that I just discovered:
You can change the size of the chat window! I feel silly that I never knew this, but glad that I just found it. At the bottom right of the chat window, there is a tiny stripey triangle that you can click and drag to change the size and dimensions of the chat window.
Some more basic information about the chat window:
You can move the chat window by clicking on General and dragging it wherever you want it.
You can view more than one type of window at a time (eg. General and Combat), by clicking and dragging any tab other than General to wherever on the screen you would like it (demonstrated in the screenshot below).
You can add (and later move around) new tabs by right clicking any existing tab and selecting “Create New Tab”. Once your new tab is created, right click it to rename it, change the filter to display whatever you want it to display, and even change text size/colour for different types of chat events (for example, messages from your fellowship could be a different colour from messages in the /advice channel).
To reintegrate a window that you have separated from the main window, simple click and drag it back to the main window until the tab header turns yellow (as seen in the screenshot below).

Hunters are masters of field and forest, unmatched in their dexterity with the bow. They use their survival skills to guide companions and lay traps for enemies. Hunters are at their strongest when attacking from a distance, but are able to defend themselves in melee combat when needed.
Role: DPS
The Hunter is proficient at dealing out damage to single foes at both range and melee. When Hunters are at range, they can unleash devastating arrow shots that do high damage to single targets. When the lone enemy manages to close into melee range, the Hunter is well-equipped to deal the finishing blow with some melee skills. More >
Guardian leveling guide 1-15
Jun 28th
Skill Level: Moderate
The Guardians are protectors of the weak and defenders of those in need. They are capable of withstanding mighty blows and retaliating in kind. True Guardians stand to the forefront of battle, shielding their allies from enemy assaults.
Role: Tank
The Guardian’s ability to wear heavy armour and defensive skills enable the Guardian to face creatures that would make other heroes’ morale fail. Guardians also have the ability to draw foes’ attention away from their allies and to themselves. More >
