Did you know…
Feb 3rd
Have you ever noticed that on certain weapons there is an indication that they do a specific type of damage? I began to wonder — as I am wont to do — what exactly those different types of damage do. Apparently, in the lore, different races/factions made weapons that would be most effective against their worst enemies, so the type of damage on weapons in the game indicate what type of enemy will be most damaged by that weapon. Here is a quick synopsis of the information I found at this link in the Lorebook: http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Mechanics:Damage_Types.
Westernesse damage is most harmful to the Dead and the Unseen.
Beleriand damage is most harmful to Ancient-Evil, Half-Orcs, Spiders, and Insects.
Fire damage is most harmful to Creatures of Nature, Troll-kind, and some Beasts.
Light damage is most harmful to Orcs, Goblins, the Unseen, and Troll-kind.
Ancient-Dwarf damage is most harmful to Dragon-kind.
If you were organized enough, you could keep various weapons in your inventory and equip the weapon that was most suited to the type of enemies you were currently fighting. I doubt if I am personally organized enough, — but, hey! There might be one or two of you out there who are!
Why the fruity flip is there Might on light armour?

Why the fruity flip is there Might on light armour?
This was a question that Bill asked during the last podcast, as he is a Rune-Keeper, and constantly gets quests reward of light armour with Might. We’ve had quite a few responses. I thought that I would put them all together here rather than have you searching for them.
- Sparthir: Might is often used by Minstrels wearing light armour.
- Matty: B/P/E builds were wonderful in SoA. Also, I think in the podcast they were focusing more on low level quest rewards having Might. Might may benefit the budding solo quester wearing light armour more since they most likely are getting beat on without meat-shield allies to protect them.
- Matty again: Might on light armour benefits Lore-masters’ Staff Strike. This ability can be one of the highest damage abilities for the class especially with the reduced physical resistance and Staff Strike cooldown legacies. Most Minstrels do not wear medium armour (especially since there is no medium armour class/radiance set for Minstrels) and any good Minstrel will melee auto-attack/Herald’s Strike when appropriate (it’s their corruption removal).
- Frieja of Brandywing: Sadly, I don’t think might provides any useful benefits for Rune-keepers. Matty just explained about Lore-masters, and since my Minstrel is my main, I’ll put in my 2 coppers. The vast majority of Minstrels wear light armour. Might is very good for us since we use a shield AND melee a bit(block rating, melee crit, reduced incoming damage, etc). However, Might is not as important as Will/Fate/Vitality. It’s a nice little bonus though. Pre-MoM, Might/Agility builds were viable options for Minstrels.
Lets keep the discussion going. So far, it seams like Minstrels use Might for Shield and Melee block rating, crit and reduced damage, and Lore-Master for the Staff Strike.
Any other thoughts?

Volume III: Allies of the King
Book 1, Oath of the Rangers Announced!
Turbine today released some information about the next volume in the Lord of the Rings Online Epic Story. As is to be expected, the announcement does not have many details as of yet, but I expect that over the next few weeks, more and more details will come, until the entire update is revealed.
Here is what we do know:
1) 12 Man versions of some of the Book 9 skirmishes:
- “At the Necromancer’s Gate, a powerful Olog-Hai thinks he’s king of the hill, and your force must prove him wrong.”
- “Before the Gate of the Ringwraith’s Lair, creatures of nightmare seek to lay a deadly trap.”
- “Man the catapults! A powerful force seeks to capture the outpost at Thangúlhad, and you must drive them back into the darkness.“
- “In the dungeons of Dannenglor, captured elves face torment and destruction, unless you can rescue them from the Enemy!“
2) Update to crafting at the higher tiers with the addition of level 65 crafting recepies. This should be good, as it will allow people to feel that crafting is actually worthwhile at the higher levels. Doesn’t seem like Scholars or Metalsmiths are getting much love though.
Not much is said in the annoucement about wether or not there will be new zones, although I would expect that there would be. Also note the lack of any new on new instances/dungeons.
There isn’t much there, but it does get me excited to move forward in the story. I think that this will be a great chance for players to continue to explore Mirkwood. It will give some of the more Casual players a chance to catch up a little, and it will flesh out the skirmish system at the high-end.
Some thing that I didn’t like?
The lack of any mention of new dungeon/instances. I hope that Turbine isn’t moving away from these and more toward skirmishes. Although I like the scaleability of the skirmishes, and how that allows for more people to see the content, perhaps they could apply this to dungeons instead of simply adding more skirmishes. I don’t think that this is the case, but I still worry about it a little.
