Win a Signed copy of LOTRO!
Sep 23rd
Several months ago, after Turbine had announced that LOTRO would be going Free to Play, I went into my local Wal-Mart and found that there where a few boxes of LOTRO on the shelves. This got me to thinking: What would happen if someone bought these copies after the game went F2P?
I sent a email to Patience, and found out that the codes from the boxes would still be valid, so I decided to bring these boxes to PAX and ask the developers to sign them so that I could give them away as contest, which leads us to this post!
Wondering what you get if you win?
1) A signed copy of LOTRO: Shadows of Angmar and Mines of Moria
2) VIP access for one month, and premium access permanently after the month is over if you decide not to subscribe.
3) All MoM content: Access to the Mines of Moria region and content, premium classes (Rune-Keeper and Warden), legendary items feature, Tier 6 crafting feature, 2 extra character slots and a level cap of 60
4) The perks of having once been a VIP if you choose to let your account go premium:
- No Gold Cap
- 5 Inventory Bags
Here’s how to win: Comment on this post with a reason why your think you should win. We will use Random.org to pick a random comment on September 30th at 5:00pm, so comment before then!
This contest is open to anyone in North America . I would love to offer it world-wide, but the shipping limits me to North America, and the code inside the box would only be valid on Turbine servers. Comments that do not state why you think you should win will not be elligeble.
Good luck, and see you in-game!
Win a chance to get into the Head Start!
Sep 6th
Do you have a friend who is thinking of starting to play LOTRO on September 10th when Free to Play launches?
Wish they could start playing with you on the 8th when the head start launches?
Haven’t played LOTRO yet and can’t wait until the 10th?
Coming back from PAX, we are lucky enough to be in possession of 13 Head Start codes. What are these codes you ask? It’s a code for new players to start LOTRO when the Head Start launches on September 8th! Included with this code is also 500 Turbine points to get you going? All you need to do is comment on this post, and at 5:00pm on September 7th, we’ll use Random.org to pick 13 lucky winners and email their codes to them so that they can get going on the 8th.
See you in-game!

Random Act of Kindness Winners!
Jan 18th
In December, we held a contest asking LOTRO players to send in a message describing a Random Act of Kindness that they had performed in game. Due to difficulty in contacting one of the winners, it unfortunately took us this long to get everything settled.
That being said, our winners are two fantastic people, based on their random acts of kindness, and I congratulate them both on winning a LOTRO Siege of Mirkwood Combo Pack, which includes Siege of Mirkwood and the Adventurer’s Pack.
Our first winner decided to take a new player on a tour of Middle-Earth. We didn’t get a name, however, so this one stays anonymous!
Thanks for the chance! (I’m poor!)
I was in Celondin last week and a new player was typing in the the main chat, asking questions about the game. He was trying to decide whether he was going to purchase or quit after his 10 day trial. I answered a few questions, and then used my elf abilities to transport him about Middle Earth in order to show how just how vast it is, and how beautiful places can be. Needless to say, Middle-Earth (as well as my crazy lady elf magic) blew his mind. :-)
The lil Hobbit said he was going to purchase the game, but I never heard from him again. Our tour de Middle Earth will always linger though.
Our second winner helped out on a quest. Congratulations Joe!
So I answered him privately and told him that he could take a swift horse from Bree really cheap. He thanked me and then asked if I would mind helping him w/ the quest Giant Problems. With nothing better to do, I agreed and we completed the quest. Noticing that he was in bad need of some decent armor, I hopped over to my metalsmith and critted him a full set. This was my random act of kindness to a relatively new player. I couldn’t have imagined how it would pay off.
Once he found out that I had alts who were jewellers, scholars, etc. he started sending me crit items (brimstone, rock salts, candles, etc.) along with just about every crafting mat that he couldn’t use himself. With in a couple of days, I had very full vaults and have been able to progress my crafting alts much, MUCH faster than I could have on my own. As he has progressed, I’ve kept him in critted armor & jewelry, and he’s kept me fully stocked w/ everything that I need.
We’ve become good friends and both of us have benefited highly. We’re in different kins, and probably wouldn’t have ever met or developed such a friendship…if not for a random act of kindness.
Thank you to all those who participated. We hope to have some more contests coming your way soon!
See you in game!
Win Siege of Mirkwood and the Adventurer's Pack!
Dec 16th
Turbine has offered us two Siege of Mirkwood Combo Packs to hand out to our faithful listeners in the form of a contest! Each Combo Pack includes the Siege of Mirkwood expansion as well as the Adventurer’s Pack.
Here’s how it’s going to work:
1) In the theme of the holiday season, we’re going to try to encourage you to spread the good cheer. Send us an email (lotroreporter@gmail.com) with a description of a “random act of kindness” that you have done in-game. No, we’re not looking for screenshots of you giving someone tons and tons of gold. Instead, we want to hear about how you helped someone in need. Maybe you helped them complete a quest, perhaps you ported someone who was asking how to get somewhere, etc. Write up a description and send it to us.
2) The contest will run from December 16th to December 29th. Emails must be received by 11:59PM PST on December 29th to be considered for the contest.
3) 2 winners will be chosen at random, and will receive the Siege of Mirkwood Combo Pack and have their message read on the LOTRO Reporter Podcast.
Please note that the combo pack is valid for players on U.S. Servers only.
More information about Siege of Mirkwood can be found here: http://www.lotro.com/gameinfo/siege-of-mirkwood-features
See you in game!
EDIT: The contest is now closed. Winners will be contacted shortly.
