Announcements
And so we grow!
Sep 24th
There have been a lot of changes going on over the past little while at LOTRO Reporter, and I thought that I’d take this oppertunity to officially announce the growth that we’ve been going through.
European Players March for Information!
Sep 24th
European players have started to chat on the forums about putting together a march on the Prancing Pony in the hope of trying to get some more information from Codemaster/Turbine about the Free-to-Play transition for European servers.
I’ve stated in the past that I through it was a really bad move for Codemaster to announce 2 days before the planned launch that they where delaying it indefinitely. Information has definitely not been forthcoming from the company.
That being said, I wonder how much of this is Codemaster’s fault. When I asked for an email interview with one of the CMs from Codemaster, I know that they had to vet all of their answers through Turbine before they could send them back to me. Could this lack of information be coming from Turbine, not just Codemasters?
All that aside, I think that this march is a great idea, and I whole heatedly support it! If you’re interested in participating, the march is going to take place at 8:00PM CET on Saturday September 25th , on the Laurelin server, or if you can’t make it to Laurelin, march on any server!
You can find the original forum post here.

New servers coming to a game near you…
Sep 2nd
Sapience of Turbine, in trademarked Incredisoon style, announced yesterday that Turbine will be opening four new servers for our gaming pleasure!
The servers will be named as follows:
- Riddermark
- Crickhollow
- Dwarrowdelf
- Imladris
These servers will be available on a first-come, first-”served” basis, starting September 8th for Head Start players, and September 10 for all others. (Check here to see if you are eligible for the earlier start date.) Sapience also noted that the forums for the new servers are up and running, in order to help the flocks of people organize themselves and their friends. For those of you with 67 alts who just NEED to have 9 new characters to love, head on over to the new servers, make some new friends, and bring our well-renowned LOTRO community spirit to some new players arriving soon, very soon, ultra soon, uber soon….. You get the idea! ;)
Happy gaming!
Scheduled Maintenance – August 24th
Aug 23rd
We’ve got 4 servers which will be going down for Scheduled Maintenance on Tuesday, August 24th from 8:00 to 11:00AM Eastern.
These servers are: Elendilmir, Firefoot, Gladden, and Silverlode.
All other servers will be available during this downtime.
To those of you affected, what are you going to do during this downtime? Log into the beta? Go onto another server with an alt? Knit a new sweater?
See you in-game!
Scheduled Maintenance – Monday, August 23rd
Aug 21st
Sapience let us know about some Maintenance planned for Monday, August 23rd. It’s not your usual maintenance, so pay attention!
Brandywine, Landroval and Windfola will be down from 6:00-10:00AM Eastern.
From 7:30-8:00AM, players will not be able to log into myaccount.turbine.com, my.lotro.com, the official forums, or the game worlds. The tricky part is that any players currently logged in will not be kicked out. They are probably working on the authentication servers, or something to do with the login, and leaving the world servers alone for this maintenance (with the above excepetions).
So if you want to play on Monday morning, make sure you log in before 7:30AM or else you’ll be out of luck for 30 minutes.
See you in-game!
Free to Play Head Start – September 8th
Aug 18th

Sapience posted this morning that there will be a “Head Start” for players during the Free to Play transition. This Head Start will begin on September 8th, and will allow some players to get into the game before the rush of new players joins in the fun.
Who is eligible for this head start?
- Current subscribers/players (anyone who has an active subscription as of Sept. 7th.)
- Former Subscribers.
- Anyone who has purchased Shadows of Angmar, Mines of Moria, or Siege of Mirkwood products.
- LOTRO F2P Beta participants (must have logged into and played the beta version of LOTRO F2P Beta prior to the close of beta)
What a great idea to include Beta Players in this group! There are many players who participated in the beta and experience LOTRO for the first time. These people have been quite vocal in their displeasure at loosing the characters that they have worked so hard on in the beta. I think it’s a great compromise to have them be a part of the head start.
Server will be brought down on September 7th (expect a 24hr downtime for the transition) and when the servers come back on the 8th, away we go!
You can find Sapience’s post here.
(EDIT: Also included in the F2P Launch will be the continuation of the Epic Story and Enedwaith)
See you in-game!
