[Video] A look at the New Dwarf Intro/Starter Zone

Yes, I am quite aware how late I am to the party folks… but I have worked out my YouTube issues and encoding issues and finally have this video ready for you all! Today I bring you a 1 hour video set showing off the massive changes to the Dwarf Intro Instance and Starter Zone. Since YouTube removed my time limit on videos I have managed to fit everything into 2 videos of ~30 min each.
There is no commentary, just in game music and sound.
As you can see from the videos, Turbine has managed to completely revamp the whole experience. The story line now makes more sense and everything flows together a bit smoother.
There are, of course, a few minor things – like the path in the Intro Silver Deep that is said to have “crumbled” but clearly shows that it was never meant to be a path, and the long back and forth walks early on in the Starter Zone.
Other than a few nitpicks the new Dwarf Intro/Starter Zone revamp is a huge success to me. I love the way Turbine portrayed the corruption of the Dourhands.

[Video] A look at the November 2010 LotRO Update

In the video you can see some changes coming to the Vault UI, the addition of the Barter Wallet (thank Arda!) and a new look for the quest acceptance dialogue. Hope you enjoy it!

[Video] LotRO Store Update – Cosmetic Item Preview

Greetings once again oh mighty internet! I bring to you today a video of unsurpassed excellence… *cough* ahem, er ok.. so maybe not unsurpassed excellence but it is a video :).
Today I am showing off the new Try On feature for the Turbine Store – after listening to us gripe on the forums about it they snuck an update in (no patch notes talked about it) that added a ‘Try On’ button to cosmetic item detail pages.
What do y’all think? Pretty darned cool eh?

Beta Video – New UI Features coming with Free2Play

Greetings once again fellow LotRO folks! I come to you today with a video showing some of the UI updates that will be arriving with F2P come September 10th.
As you can see they have changed the main vault around quite a bit, I was a bit opposed to it at first (Knee Jerk doesn’t come close to my reaction ;)) but the filter system and “pseudo chest” system have grown on me. It is also much easier figuring out what is what, as you don’t have to mouse over 10 icons that look the same to get their names.
What do you out there in Blog-o-Vision land think? Likes? Dislikes? General dismay and/or panic?

Beta Video – Hobbit Tutorial Instance

Finally we are coming around to my favorite race in LotRO! Welcome to the video for the Hobbit Tutorial Instance.
To integrate new Hobbits into the main story much quicker, (as you can see has happened with all other races), Turbine has changed it so that the Tutorial takes place much further down the road than it currently does on Live. When you start up you are greeted by the familiar Bounder Boffin, but soon the changes become apparent as you see Frodo & Co [minus Merry who is arranging things in Buckland and at the Ferry come this point of time]. The Nazgul sighting is then integrated into the story from that point.
Another point of change is that you no longer meet Amdir & some Elves on the road, instead you are captured by Brigands and thrown in a cell (the very same cell that new Human characters start out in) and are rescued by none other than Strider himself!
So here you go, the last of the racial tutorial videos!
Keep your eyes on my posts for more videos about different topics! Now that the new introduction and tutorial changes are taken care of, we can focus on other things that y’all may want to know about.

Beta Video – Human Tutorial Instance

Greetings Middle Earth Travelers!
I am back again with another video direct from the Free 2 Play Beta. Building on LotRO Reporter’s look into the changes coming with Free 2 Play, I bring you the Human Tutorial Instance.
The Human Tutorial got a pretty significant, in my eyes, revamp with the F2P update. You start out in prison (the same prison you wind up in during the Hobbit Tutorial [video to come soon]) with Strider rescuing you from the Bandits – when you leave the prison building you find yourself in the same area that the current Live version starts you out in.
Amdir’s relegation to “guy who is stabbed by a Nazgul” is very evident in the new Human Tutorial (more so than in the Hobbit Tutorial, as in the Hobbit one on Live you only see Amdir briefly). I do admit that the Human/Hobbit tutorials flow together much better now, I do not think the storyline sacrifices are worth it though.

Beta Video – Elven Tutorial Instance

Greetings once again Middle Earth travelers!
I bring you a continuation of our look at the changes to the racial tutorial instances. Today we will be looking at the update to the Elven tutorial.
Much like the Dwarven tutorial, the Elven tutorial has only been tweaked a little bit to introduce Elrond to players much earlier than it currently stands. Other than a basic introduction to Elrond (with, of course, some story highlights) the tutorial runs almost identical to what it is currently on Live servers (after exiting the house you start in with Elrond you find yourself standing where the current tutorial starts you out in).

Beta Video – Dwarf Tutorial Zone

Greetings all! As my first true post for LotRO Reporter I am bringing you another video gem! This time we take a look at the re-vamped Dwarven Tutorial zone.
As you can see, the Dwarf zone hasn’t been altered too far from what it has been for 3 years – there is more interaction with Gandalf than before, and you spar with Thorin – the rest of it follows pretty close to how it currently is though.
Thoughts? Opinions?
