LOTRO Reporter Episode 66: Hobbits in Hoardale
Dec 5th
Before we get to the show, I have to apologize for the audio quality this week. This situation has been resolved, and it won’t happen again. For those of you keeping score at home, yep, Chris screwed up again. Sorry!
This week, we discuss the November update going live, the Steed of the Night, and the Turbine contest for 100,000 Turbine Points. We also have a special collaborative PvMP tip of the week, and we discuss the LOTRO Reporter for the Holidays contest, and the Random Acts of Kindness contest with some cool Taverncraft prizes!
We also have some email this week:
From Mosshammer:
This is hilarious! It’s one of the line under “items” in the release notes. It reads:
- The tooltip for the thingy no longer incorrectly claims it is a whatchamacallit.

Awesomeness all around!! If I see anything else I’ll let you know!
From Hoss:
Hey guys, I was catching up on some old episodes that I’d missed and in one of the shows you were complaining about not being able to bind commands to a key. There is a way, although it’s not an eloquent solution.Bind the command to a quick slot, for example: /shortcut 49 /bow
This will put the bow emote in your number 49 quick slot. Then open your options panel and go to the key bindings section. Change the key binding for slot 49 to whatever key you’d like. Pressing that key will now trigger the corresponding slash-command.
This, of course, eats up a valuable quick slot. What I do to free up slots is keep my consumables, map, alternate weapons etc all together in one inventory bag. I play with this bag open all the time and activate those items straight from the bag. Voilà, instantly pick up an extra 15 quick slots.
See you in-game!

We have two announcements in this show:

From Nick:
Dear LoTRO Reporter,
I just wanted to send a quick e-mail thanking you for the site. The weekly podcast is a great listen while I play the game. I also like the articles on the different classes. I am an admitted altaholic and LotRO Reporter has helped me get all the info I need for an informed class decision. That said, I don’t know what I want to main just yet, but I’m leaning towards a Captain. Hopefully I’ll stick with it, but I promise nothing!
Again, thanks for the podcast and your site’s articles. I really appreciate having the resource.
From Hudd:
Morning, hope all is well up north.
Random thoughts on skirmish soldiers:
I would like to have a “Scroll of Skirmish Soldier Renewal”, much like the reset of all soldiers in one of the expansions. This would allow me to try out other soldier types, switching from a warrior to a protector or any soldier type. It would also give me the ability to try out different training and skills to make a better skirmish soldier to my style of play.
I believe I would use these scrolls many more times than the “scrolls of renewal” or “lesser renewal” for points on the legendary weapons.
Have a good one!
See you in-game!
