I’m Such a Creep!
What a week! I’ve been taken on a tour of the Ettenmoors from the Free Players (Freeps) side of this, as I wrote about in this article, and now I’ve been shown how things work from the Monster Player (Creep) side of things. Defilerdan, also known as Lotro_Fanatik on twitter, was kind enough to give me the tour, and also helped me to get my first map, which has become very helpful.
I started on a Warg, very much like the one that you see in the picture above, which I really enjoyed. I’ve always wanted to level a Burglar up for PvMP, as I like the sneaking style of play. This, however, allowed me to get a taste of that play style without having to get to level 65. Yes, I know many of you will say that that’s cheating, but the chances of me getting multiple characters up to level 65 are very slim.
With Defilerdan as my leader, I made my way around the map, finishing the quests and the deed required to get my first map. This is definitely something that I would suggest for anyone starting out in the moors. Start working on your maps right away.
Maybe I’m getting a little ahead of myself. What maps am I talking about? In the Ettenmoors, the way in which the creeps get around is through the use of Maps that port you to specific locations. You gain these maps by completing deeds and quests in the Moors. A priority for any player looking to be effective on the Creep side.
After completing this deed, we where invited to join Silkdawn the spider, who happens to be the same player that ran me through the Moors as a free player. Silkdawn was running a weaver ambush group, and wanted to know if I would like to try it out. So we created some weavers and away we went!
What an experience. Silkdawn brought us to a fantastic ambush spot where our group of 8 spiders promptly proceeded to lay waste to any Freeps that came along. This was not for the impatient however, as we often sat without moving for many minutes. I learned some of the strategies that weavers use to be effective, and in the process I managed to rack up quite a few kills!
Can you see the Spiders? Neither could the Freeps!
Overall, a fantastic experience, and a great start to my experience in the Moors. I think that I like it, and that I’ll be going back often!
See you in-game!
