I was lucky enough to be invited to a tour of the Ettenmoors led by Zelestia, perhaps better known as Silkdawn the spider when he plays as a creep. He runs tours through the Moors on weeknights from 11PM-Midnight EST, where you get a chance to run through most of the areas of the Moors and learn a little about the geography of the zone and, in some cases, the best way to approach keeps and outposts. This is not a “How to PVMP in the Moors” tour, it’s more of a “Ettenmoors, this is your life” tour.

The tour started out at Glan Vrag, and we followed a generally counter-clockwise path around the moors. Zelestia did mention that he often changes up the route of his tours, as he does not want the Creeps (Monster Players) getting use to his path, and lying in wait to decimate a party of players new to the zone.

I took quite copious notes during the tour planing on writing a post that would re-create the tour in written form, but after writing a post and reviewing it, I feel that you just can’t do the tour justice without actually participating in it.

Still not sure? Well, here’s what you’ll get from participating:

  • Your map will be completly opened up for the zone
  • You will understand most of the abreviation for the different location in the zone (see map above)
  • You will learn some of the creep and freep ambush point
  • You will most likely take at least one outpost
  • You will most likely kill at least one creep

I think those are pretty good reasons right there to participate in this tour.

I also asked Zelestia for 3 pieces of advice that he would give to someone who was considering taking part in  PvMP from the Freep Side.

He said:

  1. Do not go to the Ettenmoors until you reach level 62-63. Before that, you’ll require too much of the healers attention, and are likely to be more of a hindrance than a help.
  2. Hang out with some veteran PvMP players and learn from them.
  3. Do the tour!/Learn the Map.

A fantastic experience that I would recomend to anyone who is even considering PvMP. Just remember, Zelestia/Silkdawn gives tours Mon-Fri, from 11PM-Midnight EST on the Brandywine server.

I was also a lot of fun as it was full of people from The Alliance of Valour, the alliance of kinships that Cor Pethroni belongs too. We even had Lyzonlightheart, the alliance leader, as part of the tour. Fun!
