Cor Pethroni Kinship run of Great Barrows

Cor Pethroni had it’s first Kinship event last night, a run of The Great Barrows instance. I’ve been meaning to put something up for a while, as we’ve slowly been growing, and the whole point of the kinship (for me at least) was a chance to play the game that I love with people who read the blog and who listen to the podcast.
So I finally too the plunge and put something up on the Cor Pethroni my.lotro page (which is where I’ll be putting up Kinship events like this one) and then put the RSS feed on the LOTRO Reporter main page. And that’s where there was a glitch. I guess that someone (cough…cough…me) decided it would be a good idea to have the date that the item was posted to the RSS feed visible. So it looked like the run was for Friday, not for Sunday. Sorry for the confusion that this caused for anyone, but I’ve got it sorted out now, so it shouldn’t happen again.
With all this sorted out, a group of us met at the Prancing Pony and head out for Tom Bombadil’s house, as several members had yet to complete Book 1, Chapter 11, a pre-requisite for going into the Great Barrows. We ended up running it a couple of times, as a straggler to the group (cough….cough….Bill) hadn’t completed it either. It was actually quite fun racing through it the second time, seeing how fast we could get it done.
With that completed, our group set out for The Great Barrows. We had 1 Guardians, 1 Hunter, 2 Wardens and a Minstrel from the kin there, so we decided to open up the 6th place for someone outside of the kin, and ended up picking up another Guardian, who turned out to be a very nice fellow indeed.
We had a few higher level characters (myself, a level 34 Guardian, and Isanni, who brought her level 32 minstrel) so the instance as a whole was a breeze to run through. We had a blast though. There where a couple of instance of sloppy pulls, courtesy of yours truly, where we hade way more enemies on us than we should have, but with some great healing, and some good teamwork we managed to pull through.
I love the chances that Turbine has made to the instance, by moving the quest givers to the mustering horn, and by having the book to read, and the anvil to forge the key into one piece all in the instance. It made it a much more enjoyable experience, and easy to do in one sitting, without it taking all night.
Overall, it was a great chance to play with some of the readers of the site, and listeners of the podcast. I hope that we have many more events soon. With that said, what type of events would you like to see from Cor Pethroni? More instance runs? Crafting Fairs? Social get-togethers? Let me know in the comments!
See you in game!
